“Jen sees Sheryl as her health guru, so when she suggested acupuncture, Jen went with it straight away,” said one insider. Jen wants to get pregnant so she’s convinced acupuncture will give her a helping hand.

“It’s reduced her stress, made her skin glow, helped her with weight loss and made her happier,” said one insider.

Would you like to reduce your hunger so you can eat less? The Acupuncture Weight Control program is a series of acupuncture treatments that helps you feel full so that you can eat less and still have energy. This holistic therapy allows your body to take in less fat from the food you eat.

Recently CNN.com published a story about a Chinese rap group comprising of 4 women called Qian Jin Zu He, which means “1,000 Pounds” – their combined weight. Their famous song was “So What If I’m Fat?” They are currently using acupuncture, exercise and diet to lose weight.

The lead singer, 26-year-old Xiao Yang, is 375 pounds; the others in the group are between about 200 and 300 pounds. Together, they tour the country, performing at nightclubs, conventions and shopping malls. Xiao grew up in the city of Xuzhou, in the eastern province of Jiangsu. She took weight-loss pills at age 5.

Here are some excerpts from the article:

The four women have checked into the Aimin Fat Reduction Hospital in the city of Tianjin, southeast of Beijing. “We are growing older and obesity will definitely have a negative impact on our health,” said Xiao Yang, the group’s leader. “We all thought losing weight would be good for our health, even if we only lose a little bit.”

Their doctors were pleasantly surprised with the women’s progress. In two months Yang, the heaviest, has lost the most, more than 50 pounds (22 kilos). The others have shed more than 30 pounds (13 kilos) each.

“They are progressing much faster and better than we expected,” said Hao Jie, their personal trainer.
The women start the day with acupuncture to reduce their appetite. Their three-hour daily workout includes badminton and weights, and their meals are limited to 1,500 calories a day.

In China, the classic female beauty is petite, almost fragile. The group said they had suffered due to their weight, getting nasty stares and rude comments.

Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) is a complete health care system that includes acupuncture, Chinese herbs, nutrition, massage, exercise and meditation. The beauty of Chinese medicine is that it is a participatory medicine. The patient is just as responsible for their health as is the practitioner. So when you go to see a licensed acupuncturist, they might give you some homework to do such as stretches, acupressure massage to relieve your pain, diet (foods to use, foods to avoid), breathing exercises or meditation.

What is unique about Chinese medicine is that it is tailored to the individual based upon your specific diagnosis. We can prescribe foods as well as Chinese herbal formulas that will not only assist you with your health problems but also improve your general well being…more energy, a better disposition, and just feeling good!

Recently Twin Cities’ Edge Magazine interviewed Steven Sonmore on the subject of self care and Chinese medicine. Read it in full at http://soulofthecities.net/2010/06/chinese-medicine-self-care/

You’ve probably had headaches of some sort. Maybe you popped a Tylenol or Aspirin and forget about it. But some headaches need professional evaluation.

June 6-12 marks National Headache Awareness Week. Headaches obviously are complex, with a wide range of causes from sinus problems, to eyestrain, stress, lack of sleep or even drinking too much caffeine.

The goals of National Headache Awareness Week are:
• to attract recognition that headache pain is a real and legitimate condition
• to encourage sufferers to see a licensed health professional for proper diagnosis and treatment
• to let headache sufferers know that there are treatments for their condition that works.

Taking a pain reliever for a headache, while sometimes effective in relieving the symptoms of the headache, just suppresses the symptoms and doesn’t address the root cause one bit. This health imbalance will continue to manifest as a headache or other physical symptoms.

Imagine finally being rid of your migraines; without the drugs, without days in bed, without trips to the ER and without worry of when the next one might strike. Imagine finally being free from your migraines and enjoying life the way it’s meant to be.

Headaches are not normal. This is a sign that something is wrong. Your body was designed to be pain free. Even an occasional headache is a sign of something not functioning right.

At our Minneapolis clinic we help people enjoy life without the excruciating pain of headaches naturally. If you have not been to our clinic before, stop by and we will give you a free packet of information on how to prevent headaches. Or set up an appointment to be pain free. Just call 612-866-4000. You’ll be glad you did.

Traditional Chinese medicine has offered effective pain relief to mankind for thousands of years. Now to confirm its scientific validity, this treatment of pain has received support in the May issue of Anesthesia & Analgesia, the official journal of the International Anesthesia Research Society (IARS).

Dr. Philip Lang and fellow researchers of the University of Munich used quantitative sensory testing to detect changes in pain sensitivity with acupuncture in 24 healthy volunteers. After applying acupuncture to the leg, the researchers found that pain thresholds increased by up to 50 percent. Effects were noted in both the treated leg and the untreated leg.

Study Shows Measurable and Specific Effects of Acupuncture on Pain

Quantitative sensory testing is used clinically to help physicians understand specific injuries in nerve fibers associated with chronic pain. It includes tests of both thermal perception (heat and cold), and mechanical perception (pressure applied to the skin). The patterns of response provide diagnostic information in patients with nerve injury regarding the type of nerve involved, and possible treatments.

The results pointed to two nerve fibers—the “A delta” pain fibers and the “C” pain fibers—as being specifically affected by acupuncture. The researchers believe this provides a basis for future studies in individuals with chronic pain, where the effects might be more dramatic.

All treatments were performed by an experienced acupuncturist using acupuncture points commonly used for pain management.

The results provide a scientific background for the ancient practice of acupuncture, according to Dr. Dominik Irnich, head of the Multidisciplinary Pain Centre, Department of Anesthesiology in University of Munich. Dr. Irnich notes, “Our results show that contralateral stimulation leads to a remarkable pain relief. This suggests that acupuncturists should needle contralaterally if the affected side is too painful or not accessible—for example, if the skin is injured or there is a dressing in place.”

Dr. Steven L. Shafer, Editor-in-Chief of Anesthesia & Analgesia and Professor of Anesthesiology at Columbia University, views the results as an important preliminary finding. “Reproducible findings are the cornerstone of scientific inquiry,” Dr. Shafer comments. “The authors have clearly described their methodology, and their findings. If other laboratories can reproduce these results in properly controlled studies, then this provides further support for the scientific basis of acupuncture. Additionally, the ability of quantitative sensory testing to identify specific types of nerves involved in pain transmission may help direct research into the mechanism of acupuncture analgesia.”

Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture (also called Cosmetic Acupuncture) is extremely popular with movie stars and the entertainment industry. Stars such as Madonna and Cher receive it regularly to help them look young.

According to celebrity gossip website showbizspy.com, Hollywood superstar Sandra Bullock – who recently won an Oscar for her role in “The Blind Side” – has regular sessions of acupuncture.

“Sandra gets the treatment three times a week whether she’s at home on or on set” a source revealed to ShowBizSpy. “It’s in her contract that studios have to pay for it!”

Supermodel Elle Macpherson recently said in an interview with UK tabloid News of the World: “I have acupuncture regularly and…treats most common ailments with herbs.”

When asked how she maintained her health and well being, Elle answered, “I do choose to look after my body from a Chinese medicine perspective, which promotes and maintains wellness rather than treat illness.”

Gwyneth Paltrow, a longtime advocate of the benefits of acupuncture and Oriental medicine, once said that having acupuncture had guided her to a “new level” in life, helping her to find love with her husband and giving her the strength to cope with the death of her father. In an interview with Oprah Winfrey, Gwyneth Paltrow said, “I have been a big fan of Chinese medicine for a long time because it works.”

Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture’s growing popularity has garnered media attention with features on ABC Television’s “Good Morning America” and Public Broadcasting System’s “Health Week.”

Benefits of Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture

• Increases the production of collagen and elastin
• Improves muscle tone (preventing further aging and wrinkles)
• Improves local lymph and blood circulation
• Softens or erases fine lines and wrinkles
• Reduces the depth of deeper lines
• Decreases bags (puffiness) under the eyes
• Reduces or eliminates acne and rosacea
• Provides a consistently smoother and brighter face

To look and feel years younger, facial rejuvenation acupuncture offers less risk, expense and recovery time than medical alternatives. While this treatment cannot reshape facial features, it is a more subtle rejuvenation that can take years off your face safely and naturally while improving your overall health.

Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture invigorates your circulation, giving you a natural glow, evens out skin tone and discolorations, tightens your skin to yield a supple, natural look. You are treated for your core constitution, which supports your overall health and beauty and provides a natural anti-aging treatment.

What Our Clients say:
“After completing the Acupuncture Facial Rejuvenation, not only have I, but many of my friends, have noticed a difference in my appearance. Comments have ranged from, ‘I have never noticed what lovely skin you have,’ to ‘have you been to a spa?’ Needless to say, I am thrilled. Steven patiently answered all my questions. He also helped me with several other health concerns. I am so appreciative of his expertise.
Thank you again,”

Gastro-intestinal complaints account for over 35 million physician office visits a year. Because of the side effects of prescription drugs and their sometimes failed results, many patients are turning to acupuncture for help. Clients at our Minneapolis clinic are confirming that acupuncture and Chinese medicine treatments offer relief from even the most stubborn digestive problems.

If You Have IBS, You Are Not Alone

It is estimated that IBS (irritable bowel syndrome) affects 9% to 23% people worldwide. Many people are undiagnosed, unaware that they have a medically recognized disorder and have not had any successful treatments for IBS. Truth be told, there is a natural remedy for IBS that has been around for thousands of years.

Chinese Medicine has Treated Digestive Disorders Since 3 A.D.

Historical evidence shows that Chinese medicine has been used for digestive disorders as far back as 3 AD, where specific herbal formulas and acupuncture points for abdominal pain and diarrhea with pain are discussed.

Conditions which respond well to Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine include:

• IBS, IBD
• Crohn’s disease
• ulcerative colitis
• atrophic gastritis
• peptic and gastric ulcers
• gastrointestinal tract bleeding
• intestinal cramps

Symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) are abdominal pain or discomfort, bloating and changes in the bowels (diarrhea, constipation or both, alternating). In some cases the symptoms of these disorders can become severe and can impair quality of life significantly. In spite of the high numbers of people this affects, standard medical methods are limited and many have not received successful treatment for irritable bowel syndrome. So many people choose to pursue complementary or alternative therapies such as acupuncture and Chinese medicine.

Why Is Acupuncture So Popular?

With gastrointestinal disorders, patients are often dissatisfied with conventional options available. Acupuncture can relieve your pain and discomfort and effectively increase internal organ functioning. Many people choose acupuncture to cure their abdominal pain, nausea, constipation, diarrhea and bloating.

How Does Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine Work Scientifically?

A number of modern studies, most of them conducted at China’s leading research and teaching institutes as well as hospital settings, show that acupuncture and herbal medicine can bring about positive internal changes in the human digestive system, including increasing immunoglobulins, T-lymphocytes and serum gastrin.

Stress can have negative effects on your gut, causing increased inflammation. Acupuncture can decrease your stress by modifying the nervous system response.

What We Will Do for You at Complete Oriental Medical Care, LLC:

• Assess and diagnose your condition.

• Develop a customized treatment plan for
you, which may involve acupuncture and/or
Chinese herbal medicine.

• Develop unique & specific treatment
strategies during each treatment session,
based on your signs & symptoms.

• Every condition will be treated using a
variety of techniques as a result of two
decades of experience.

Why Our Clinic is So Successful

A Unique Style of Acupuncture & Chinese Herbal Medicine!

One reason why Complete Oriental Medical Care, LLC has been so successful is due to the unique style of acupuncture practiced at this Minneapolis clinic. Plus 20 years experience in health care.

Most acupuncture clinics in the United States use a method where needles are inserted directly into the area of pain. The problem with this approach is there is always a risk of aggravating the pain and the results are not consistent or reliable. At Complete Oriental Medical Care, LLC we specialize in a different style of acupuncture. This method is over 2,500 years old and is derived from one of the oldest books in the world.

This method has several names such as: “The Balance Method,” or “Distal Point Acupuncture.” Regardless of the name, the effects are nothing less than miraculous.

Pain relief occurs in seconds!

Our clients can feel the pain relief when they are still on the table.

More than 90% of our patients feel a reduction in pain
by 65% to 85% when they get up from our treatment table.

Over a series of treatments you can achieve long lasting Relief!

Maybe you didn’t know that April 16th is National Stress Awareness Day. It’s no coincidence that it falls the day after taxes are due. One of the biggest reasons people come to our clinic to receive acupuncture is to relax and reduce stress. Signs that you might be caving in from stress include tight neck and shoulders, digestive problems, anxiety, depression, headaches and insomnia.

Have you sometimes gone to bed, be unable to sleep and then wake up in the morning just as tired as the night before?

Are you irritable to your loved one(s), maybe a little “down” too often? Do you experience mood swings? If you do, these are signs that you may be suffering from stress.

Read these facts about stress:

• 1/3 of Americans are living with extreme stress, and nearly half believe their stress has increased during the past five years. (American Psychological Association)

• Acupuncture can lower your blood pressure. Throughout time, lowered blood pressure can add six years to your life.

• By 2020, the top five diseases will all have the underlying contributing factor of stress. (World Health Organization)

Dealing with your stress today can help prevent stress-related illnesses, such as heart disease, stroke and depression tomorrow. “There’s quite a bit you can learn …to help reduce stress,” says Brent Bauer, MD, director of the Complementary and Integrative Medicine Program at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. “Things like meditation, acupuncture and guided imagery–the right answer is to find what fits for you and incorporate it on a regular basis.”

Acupuncture treatments are not about luxury, they are about boosting your body to optimal health. Complete Oriental Medical Care, LLC is a place where people can get tangible results and work on overall well-being. Our clinic is offering great ways to help you manage your stress that’s easy and fits into your budget.

In our attempt to keep you feeling healthy, we are offering some wonderful incentives to keep you coming in this spring. We’ve put together two great offers to choose from. The first is a short 3-session package and the second choice is a 12-session package deal.

Now remember, acupuncture makes your entire body work better. It’s like going to the gym; but for your insides as well as your outsides. Just as going to the gym once isn’t quite enough, one acupuncture treatment just isn’t enough. A short series is needed to make the changes stick. So that’s why were offering this:

That’s only $63.75 each session, if you’re wondering (instead of the regular $89 for intake & $70 for follow-ups). If you were thinking about coming in anyway, or are currently in care, you can still take the $37.75 savings … just pre-pay for the next 3 visits. There’s no better time to do it. That’s like getting an entire session at half price! To put it in perspective, remember that hospitals charge as much as $180 a session!

We’re doing this because we want you to be healthy this season and we want you to make sure you get enough acupuncture for it to be effective. That’s why we want you to come in for the 3 sessions. Be honest; you remember how great you felt when you were coming in regularly. Why not extend that feeling?

Pre-Pay Option B
12 sessions for the price of 10

At $725 that’s a $134 savings for free! For some of you, you’ll prefer to use all of your sessions at once and others may want to use them on a monthly basis. Many in America have found acupuncture a cost-effective addition to their healthy lifestyle in building a strong immune system, strengthening vital internal organ function and increasing overall health, longevity and sense of well-being.

The only catch is that you have to act fast. April 30th is the deadline.

This offer ends at the end of the month. We’re doing that because we want you to act quickly and prepare your body before you go out and do something relatively stupid, like lifting an air conditioner by yourself!

For thousands and thousands of people, Acupuncture has been the “secret” that solved their back pain, migraine headaches, fibromyalgia, allergies, auto/work injury and arthritis pain, and given them a much healthier, happier, pain-free life.

Regular Acupuncture Care Is The
Key That Unlocks The Vault That Contains
The “Secret” To A Healthy, Pain-Free Life.

Remember, Call 612-866-4000 quickly. At the stroke of midnight, April 30th, the “Spring Time Booster Acu-Pack” offer is gone forever. And don’t forget, knowing how to stay healthy is not a luxury. It is a basic skill for the millennium.
