“It’s reduced her stress, made her skin glow, helped her with weight loss and made her happier,” said one insider.

Would you like to reduce your hunger so you can eat less? The Acupuncture Weight Control program is a series of acupuncture treatments that helps you feel full so that you can eat less and still have energy. This holistic therapy allows your body to take in less fat from the food you eat.

Recently CNN.com published a story about a Chinese rap group comprising of 4 women called Qian Jin Zu He, which means “1,000 Pounds” – their combined weight. Their famous song was “So What If I’m Fat?” They are currently using acupuncture, exercise and diet to lose weight.

The lead singer, 26-year-old Xiao Yang, is 375 pounds; the others in the group are between about 200 and 300 pounds. Together, they tour the country, performing at nightclubs, conventions and shopping malls. Xiao grew up in the city of Xuzhou, in the eastern province of Jiangsu. She took weight-loss pills at age 5.

Here are some excerpts from the article:

The four women have checked into the Aimin Fat Reduction Hospital in the city of Tianjin, southeast of Beijing. “We are growing older and obesity will definitely have a negative impact on our health,” said Xiao Yang, the group’s leader. “We all thought losing weight would be good for our health, even if we only lose a little bit.”

Their doctors were pleasantly surprised with the women’s progress. In two months Yang, the heaviest, has lost the most, more than 50 pounds (22 kilos). The others have shed more than 30 pounds (13 kilos) each.

“They are progressing much faster and better than we expected,” said Hao Jie, their personal trainer.
The women start the day with acupuncture to reduce their appetite. Their three-hour daily workout includes badminton and weights, and their meals are limited to 1,500 calories a day.

In China, the classic female beauty is petite, almost fragile. The group said they had suffered due to their weight, getting nasty stares and rude comments.

Are you getting excited about 2010 – I am! It’s coming at us quick.

Have you noticed?

And 2009 is losing its grip a little bit more every day. I’m ready, are you?

2009 was a great and transformative year. Moving productively from 2009 into 2010 – and having someone you can count on to support you to do it makes it easier. That’s why we at Complete Oriental Medical Care are here to assist you in creating a whole new possibility in your health.

It is no surprise that many of the top ten New Year’s resolutions are related to better health. Number 1 is to “lose weight,” number 2 to “quit smoking,” with “exercise more” and “eat healthier” also among the top ten.

But no matter how committed you may be to your new health resolution, it is much too easy to become sidetracked. We are all constantly bombarded with commercials that make the least healthy foods look and sound irresistible. Smoking is promoted as something that makes you look “cool” and calms you down. This is where your vision comes in:

1. Define what you want to change – lose weight, quit smoking, etc.

2. How will this change fit into the health vision for your life? Will you feel better, have more energy, worry less about your long-term health?

3. Give your new health vision power. Write it down, share it with others, find images from magazines to make a collage that represents your new vision. Hold images of yourself in your mind achieving your goal, feeling better, and having more energy. Imagine exactly how it will feel to take excellent care of yourself. Picture yourself walking through your life feeling confident about your health. Write all of this down to review whenever you feel tempted to quit.

4. Activate your new health vision. Take the first action toward your goal. Don’t fall into the trap of needing immediate gratification. Think of each step that you take as one step closer to your ultimate goal. Whenever you feel tempted to give up, go within and connect with your vision.

Your Plan for Better Health

In order to stick with your New Year’s resolution and see it through, you need to have a plan, and you need to have ways to deal with temptation when it hits – because it will! Here are some tips to get you through the rough spots:

1. Create a detailed plan to reach your goal. If you’re not sure how to reach it, do some reading, or find someone who can help you. There are numerous diets and recipes available for healthier eating, as well as many strategies to help you stop smoking.

2. Find a great exercise professional to help you with your health vision. Exercise helps detoxify the body and makes you feel more alive. This can be a yoga teacher, Qi Gong instructor, and/or personal trainer. Do whatever you need to nurture your body and mind through the process.

3. Remind yourself that YOU are in control of your life and your health. Your cravings are not in control. If eating better is your resolution, keep a log of everything you eat. This will not only prevent you from cheating, but it will help you discover which foods make you feel best.

4. Find one great person who completely supports your new health vision. This will be someone you can call if you are struggling to stay with your resolution. Make sure it’s someone who will hear you without judgment and offer gentle but firm encouragement to keep going. In other words, find positive influences to counteract the negative influences that come from the media.

5. Work with affirmations and images. Write positive affirmations to keep you focused on the goal and to saturate your subconscious mind with your intention. “Every day, in every way, I am getting better and better” is a simple and classic affirmation. Another possibility is “I draw people to me who support my smoke-free lifestyle.”

6. Find an experienced, licensed acupuncturist to help you quit smoking, lose weight, and reduce cravings. This time proven system of Oriental medicine has worked for thousands of years.

Don’t forget that healthy living is an ongoing process. It’s a lifestyle that is evolutionary, not fixed. So, make this the year that you devote yourself to greater health. Live longer, increase your energy, and enjoy your life more!

The Year of the Ox, which started on January 26, might be your most peaceful year since 2000. The Ox in Chinese astrology is no bull in a china shop. He/she is a born leader, being quite dependable and possessing an innate ability to achieve great things. They are tireless workers who are detail oriented and believe in doing things right the first time. The ox person is not extravagant, and spends his/her money wisely. Some famous Oxen are Barack Obama, Jon Bon Jovi, Jeff Bridges, Richard Burton, Charlie Chaplin, Bill Cosby, Sammy Davis Jr, Walt Disney, Dustin Hoffman and Anthony Hopkins.

The Year of the Earth Ox, 2009, can be symbolized by a garden, giving it a sense of harmony. With the Ox you can imagine a peaceful, relaxing garden or field with oxen eating grass. It is a year for healing and relaxation from the turbulent times the world has experienced since 2001. It is a time for rebuilding and reconstruction from the damage brought by natural disasters and the financial tsunami of 2008. The Year of the Ox is also a time to seek peaceful settlements, narrow the differences between cultures, and begin to care for one another. It is a year of pure Earth element so the theme for this year is caring for our planet Earth. The element of Earth will bring the mood of meditation… calm, thoughtful and peaceful means to settle any differences that may arise in 2009.

The Five Elements (Fire, Earth, Metal, Water, Wood) in Chinese medicine represent different parts of your body. The Earth element governs your digestive system, stomach, pancreas, muscles and cells. So these are the health problems that will occur the most in 2009. If you have suffered from heartburn or diabetes it is time to seek professional help. Health problems related to the Earth element include stomach problems, acid reflux or IBS (irritable bowel syndrome). Some of the ways that stress affects your digestive tract is it decreases the contractions of the small intestine and increases the contractions of the large intestine. (Not good)

Disorders of the Earth element can also mean problems of muscles and cells, like obesity. If you want to lose weight, check out our Acupuncture Weight Control at http://www.orientalmedcare.com/loss_weight_acupuncture.html .

Continuing on the issue of health problems, there is an absence of the Fire element in 2009, which could emphasize cardiovascular problems. These are all problems that Chinese medicine excels at treating.
